This is the month of Christmas. What I got for Christmas actually benefits my senior project. Some who knows of my senior topic and knew I needed this item went out of the way to get it for me. My Christmas present was about twenty or more of the real techniques brushes. These will really benefit me because I will be able to preform on myself and other people. I am thankful for the gift I received and that it will help me improve more about my topic.

Extra Blog Post: November
After the past couple months of working or reading out of books for research I wanted to change it up. I realized that using these videos that I linked would be very useful.
The funny thing is that when I am bored and have nothing to do I can
watch these videos for hours because I find them very interesting. It is
also very effective because most people do have different techniques
and different products they use so I learn about how versatile I am able
to be while doing makeup. Meanwhile doing makeup there are many
different things to consider before just applying 5 more or less
products to someone face.
These are just a couple of things to ask yourself or consider.
- Skin Type
- Oily
- Dry
- Normal
- Combination (T Zone)
- Skin discoloration
- Ance
- Rosacea
- Dark circles(Yellow or purple)
- Weather
- Cold
- Hummid
- Raining

Blog 10: EQ
1. I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ.
Essential Question
Once a topic is chosen, the student will develop a working essential question. The purpose of the working essential question is to help the student build a strong foundation of research which will allow him or her to create an essential question that encourages depth and rigor in the chosen topic.
An essential question must:
Provide a framework for studies (It calls for breadth and depth of research, Is not a yes/no question)
Take a stance (It allows you to argue some point, Cannot be a recitation of facts or a list)
Format (It is specific, The wording makes sense)
2. Review the following EQs
Tell us if each meets the rule of three.
Tell why they do or don't.
a. What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss?
Framework: Not a yes or no question. Provides framework for research.
Stance: It allows for an argument.
Format: It is specific and makes sense.
b. What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation?
Framework: Not a yes or no question. Provides framework for research.
Stance: I feel as if there is no room for argument.
Format: The wording is a bit different.
c. What is most important in creating a hairstyle that best satisfies a customer?
Framework: The satisfaction of a consumer is opinionated. Research may be difficult but is possible if taking the right steps.
Stance: There is not much room for an argument. Might be hard to argue the satisfaction of the consumer.
Format: The questions does make sense. The wording is fine.
d. How can an anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain?
Framework: Not a yes or no question. Provides framework for research.
Stance: It allows for an argument.
Format: It is specific and makes sense.
3. Based on your review of the rule of 3 and your experience with assessing four EQs, please write another draft EQ for your senior project.
What is the most important factors in creating a make-up look?
What can a make-up artist provide to attract clientele?
What is the most efficient way to apply make-up?
*I do need help in altering my essential question. I have acouple of different ideas for essential questions but I am sure that I want to go more towards the techniques that are needing in creating a makeup look.*

Blog 9: Lesson 1 Reflection
1. Positive Statement
What are you most proud of in your Lesson 1 Presentation and why?
I am most proud of how comfortable I was while presenting. My whole presentation flowed really well and I knew in detail about what I was talking about.
2. Questions to Consider
a. What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 1 Presentation (self-assessment)?
I would give myself a P on the lesson plan.
b. Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 1 component contract.
I deserve that grade because I met all the requirements on the contract.
3. What worked for you in your Lesson 1?
What worked for me in my opinion would have to be going through with technology and making a presentation. This really worked well for me because my topic requires you to look at pictures while being told the explanation in order to comprehend how to do a certain tactic. For example how to apply brow product onto the brows or where are the correct places for highlight or contour.
4. (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1?
Even though my hook did work out well I would have liked to hang it. I feel like it didn't grab everyone's attention. I would've chosen a hook like activity where everyone could participate.

Extra Blog Post: October
Since it is Halloween I decided to go all out this year. It is also a plus because my topic is make up artistry. This is just a couple pictures of my face makeup on Halloween. It was really interesting to create a look to match my costume. For Halloween I choose to be a Native American. For my face I just used a foundation color to match my skin. I went ahead and just filled in my brows a little. Then contour on my cheeks and temples. Then I used three different elf brushes to create this eye look. All I used were different shades of brown. I then applied false lashes, curled my lashes and applied mascara. To create more of Native American look I applied the blue stripe under both my eyes using face paint. As well as little white dots above my eye brows. I went with just a natural color lip because I have a bolder look for my eyes. That is all for my final Native American look. Doing my mentorship, reading books, and watching videos has really helped me improve on things I struggled with before. I cannot wait till next Halloween so that I can create a new look.

Blog 8: Research and Working EQ
1. What is your
working EQ?
What techniques are the most efficient which result in a outstanding outcome and satisfied client.
2. What is a possible
answer to your working EQ? Please write the answer in thesis format.
- The makeup artist must be able to apply her knowledge to accommodate the needs of the client(s).
- Clients should be encouraged to inform the makeup artist about their desired look(s)
- The makeup artist must be able to realize after observing the client what is needed in order to enhance his/her features
3. What is the most
important source you have used that has helped you come up with an answer to
your working EQ?
The most important source that I have used would have to be a book that my mentor actually lent to me for a couple of week. The book is called "Make-up Designory's Beauty Make-up" which was given to her while she attended makeup school in Burbank. I feel that this book has all the information i need. It goes into detail about everything and anything i have a question on. It is very specific and right to the point and is very easy to understand. This book explains all the different techniques as well as the best brushes to use with the many different foundation, concealers, and powders, etc. This would have to be one of the best finding and i actually want to purchase it for myself.
4. Who is your
mentor, or where are you doing mentorship, and how does what you are doing
relate to your working EQ?
My mentor is Jilll Anderson who is a professional makeup artist. I am doing my mentorship at her house locally since she does work from home. I come over whenever she has clients and help and assist her with whatever she needs. I also am able to use the products she has to learn how to use them on my own and learn my own techniques that I favor. It relates to my topic simply because she is a professional in the field that i am doing my senior project on. It relates to my working EQ because I am able to view her apply a full face of makeup resulting in an amazing final product.

Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval
1. Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
For my 30 hours I plan on making creating a makeup look book. A look book is basically something that clients can view in order to choose the desired look they want. This will include dramatic, natural, and various of different looks. I plan on doing this because I will be able to be very creative while creating my own looks inspired by other research I plan on doing. This will defiantly teach me so much more about my topic. Makeup artistry is really like painting on a canvas. You can be what you want to be. Create the looks you want because everyone is different and will have different personal likings. I will take all the research I have done and will make about 6 or so different looks that will result in a makeup look book of my own.
2. Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
I want to make memories of this experience as well as show the 30 hours of evidence. This will be the look book itself which are different drawing of looks of my own. As well as the products I would be using on the left hand side of the picture. Lastly will be the reasoning to why I chose to create the look book towards the end.
3. And explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.
Creating the look book is making me research about makeup and find my own inspiration for the looks I am creating. I feel that if i create this look book it will give me a feel on how this field would be in the future. It will also educate me in great detail about makeup artistry.

Extra Blog Post: September
About a week or two ago I decided to go to the West Covina library as I thought it would be very useful to me. In the past I realized that looking for articles for research checks are kind of difficult. It is very difficult because my topic is makeup artistry. Most of the articles I do have access to are mainly if not all opinion or had barley any information. Meanwhile at the library I came across four books. These books have helped me miraculously. They are not just little articles explaining the "day in the field of a makeup artist". These books have opened my eyes and still continue to do so. Every book has somewhat different techniques of the different makeup artists but for the most part it's about the same to get the most effective final result. I have been able to really grasp the concept for example comprehending why and how contouring the face in different areas make the face look more sculpted and skinny. Another example is highlighting the face in the areas that the sun hits first which brightens and makes you look more awake. Understanding the concept is the whole point of looking up research. It was incredibly helpful to come across these books. I also plan to get more in the future. These explain everything from natural look to heavy coverage to the people that need it. I am using this information to get the use out of the research checks instead of waisting my time and having to make myself work twice as hard in the end.

Blog 5: Mentorship Reflection
1. Mentorship question: Describe your experience in how you found your mentorship? If you haven't found one yet, describe your experience so far in the search of a mentor.
My experience while finding a mentor was irritating. Why? Because I was on the phone all day. I called about 15 different makeup artist. Some were rude, obnoxious and really just upset me for the tone they were talking to me in so I just hung up the phone on them. After calling and calling I finally decided to look on yelp for any makeup artist with really good ratings. Finally I called Jill Anderson who was one of them. She was the sweetest most polite person I have ever talked too. Finally I met up with her and it has been great meeting up with her about once a week. She arranges it so that I am able to watch her preform on a client and then extra time after so I am able to have one on one time with her. She is a great mentor but I am still interested in looking for a teacher from a beauty school to also mentor me. I feel I would be able to learn more from an actual teacher then just watching someone preform the act of applying makeup.
2. Research question: What has been your most important article you have read so far and why?
I would have to say that I have three articles that are very important. They are actually chapters from a book that my mentor lent to me. It is all you need to know before you apply makeup and the tactics needed so that you apply the makeup correctly ending with an amazing final product. I feel like most important out of those three would have to be the chapter called "Base". In my opinion people do underestimate how much the process before you apply your makeup matters. For Instance you want to start with a smooth base or face meanwhile people mainly pack on the coverage to cover all of the bumps or acne they do have which ends up looking worse. Another example is having oily or dry skin. You need to maintain a normal skin type. If your skin is very oily it looks unappealing and could cause the makeup to not stay in place. Then if it is dry it will looked powdery or cracked looking unappealing as well. This book is really important because it explains the process and the reasons why that works together to get the amazing final product like I mentioned before.

Extra Blog Post: August
This picture is from my favorite day of mentorship I have had yet. My mentor does work out of her house as of now and is working on opening up her own makeup salon. Therefore I would go to her house and do many different things. On this day I arrived at her house and she told me it was a free day for me to do whatever I would like. I knew what she meant the minute she said "free day". She told me that I was able to test out or use any product she had. Not just the ones on the table but the ones in the many boxes she has underneath and to the sides of the desk. As I was going through all the different products I began to ask her any questions I had and she would go into detail about how to apply it or how efficient the product is. It was my favorite day because well I was able to be hands on with all the different products I have seen but never been able to try out and then was able to use them as well as discuss with her. It was also a great experience and allowed me to get to know her more as a person.

3. What questions were raised because of the 10 hours of experience? List them.
How do you find your perfect match of foundation?
How do you know what makeup compliments your features?
What can you apply in advance to make your final product look outstanding?
What are some precautions one should take while applying makeup?
Does the brand of makeup make a difference?
4. What is the most important thing you gained from this experience? Why?
The most important thing I gained from mentoring with Jill Anderson is that a lot of different things come into play while doing makeup. Honestly it is a simple task but it is a task that not everyone can be amazing at. It takes a lot of trial and error. You aren't always going to get it right the first time. Makeup can be a way of expressing yourself or the way you feel but instead your canvas is your face or someone else's. I feel this way because I enjoy to express the way I feel through the canvas in other words my face because it is the thing that everyone see's on a daily basis. It isn't about trying to impress anyone it simply is about making you feel better about yourself or even better making someone look even more beautiful on a day that they will remember and look back on.
5. What is your senior project topic going to be? How did what you did help you choose a topic?
My senior project topic is going to be makeup artistry. What I did helped me choose the topic because it made me more interested and opened my eyes to all the different possibilities with makeup or being a makeup artist. Especially the book I have been reading their is so much to know about how to make one face change for the better. Whether you are just going out one evening or getting ready to walk down the aisle. Being able to help someone achieve the look they want on the day they will always look back on and remember would be wonderful.
